Anything To Get Kids To Read

Today we kicked off our Readers to Leaders challenge to read a million words this year! To celebrate our students for meeting their first reading goal of the year and keep them motivated I allowed myself to be turned into a banana split! My children know I'll do anything to get them to read - and they promised to reach that 1,000,000 word goal!

Our kids absolutely loved watching this on WCCE News! They felt that you were speaking to them directly. They all enthusiastically responded to all your questions and they PROMISED to you, to their teachers and to themselves that they would read EVERY DAY. Thank you for making this reading celebration such a treat!

At dinner, my kids told my husband that some teachers put food all over you, and Coach Bailey even threw a pie at you.
I explained why. He then asked the kids, "does that motivate you to read more?" In unison they responded loudly, "yes"! Thanks for putting yourself through that mess for our students! They went bananas over the celebration.
