Barnyard Book Bonanza BINGO

This year we have totally revamped our Readers to Leaders Million Word Reading Campaign and I really think the changes have been very motivating for our students. Everyone who met the second goal at the end of our last quarter got to participate in our first ever Barnyard Book Bonanza BINGO! In 45 minutes we were able to play enough rounds of picture bingo for Kindergarten and First Grade that every student was a winner and for the older grades over half of the students won at traditional bingo. I also made sure everyone left with a little something (reading sticker, pencil or bookmark). For bingo winners our Media Specialist, KK Cherney, outdid herself - students were able to pick from mountains of books and other prizes. I have to say the event was one of the most exciting times I've had celebrating with our students. I'm so proud of all my readers and they can't wait to participate in our next celebration. Rumor is it has something to do with a picnic under the pavilion with popsicles and a PIG that needs a kiss from the principal. Oink!

My students still rave about Barnyard Book Bonanza Bingo. They even asked if we could do it again. Thank you for supporting them in such a fun way!

This was such a fun time for our kids! They were so excited and it was so fun to watch them. We even had some with their fingers crossed (literally) that they would win Bingo and get a new book. Thank you for all you do to encourage our students! Can't wait for the next reading celebration :)

Even the most jaded 5th graders had a really great time, and that speaks volumes!

This event is a keeper for sure.

Peace,

I absolutely loved playing BINGO when I was a child. I remember I wond 3$ on time at summercamp and thought I won the lottery.
This was such a fun activity for the children. What was most memorable was the children cheering and encouraging others! Some of our friends were actually perspiring, but they were always happy for the children that won.
What a special environment!

Our 4th grade readers who met the challenge absolutely loved the Bingo games and the prizes! They came back to class beaming with enthusiasm, and I overheard some students say, "I am going to meet my goal for the 3rd 9-weeks!" Thank you so much for offering your time with an engaging activity that truly motivates students to want to read!! I had so much fun being a cheerleader for those who were playing and were, "Oh, so close at winning!" I can't wait until the next readers to leaders celebration!

Besides the kid's loving it - it was my very favorite reward we've had here at the Creek! A new tradition has begun!

It was marverlous! Children were excited to play, win and pick their prizes on their own. Amazingly, most selected a new book! Then, they couldn't wait to start reading their new book, right then and there.

Thank you for the fun way of rewarding our Readers to Leaders.
