It's All About The Pencil

Today I delivered THE pencils...THE FCAT WRITES pencils and a pep talk to my fourth graders. I was greeted by so many smiles today, kids who are confident because they have all the ingredients for success!

My students were so excited by your unexpected visits, both last week with the Formal 5 invitations and yesterday with the magic pencils! Thank you for making them feel so special! :-)
We all love you!

In fifth grade, students develop the ability to lose pencils at an alarming rate. We actually get bags of nubby pencils from M&M, and we are very happy to get those. So, FCAT is the one and only time that our students really ever see a real genuine full-length pencil. Is that magical? You bet it is! See you on the eraser :-}

Peace,

In other schools, I received a box of sharpened pencils in my mailbox the day before the test. At the time, I was grateful that I didn't have to sit and sharpen pencils for half an hour or so. But I had no idea what it COULD have been. Every year since I've been at Chets, I've ask my students what made them feel the most comforted and confident before the FCAT, and every year they say it's the personal words and visits from the PRINCIPAL and teachers. Thank you for continuing this tradition. It means SO much more than just the pencils....

I think it's great that you make it a POINT to hand deliver the pencils.
