7 Things You Don't Need to Know About Me

Ok - Here we go. I've been tagged by another meme. This time I am charged with telling you 7 things you might not know, or need to know for that matter, about me. I'm a pretty open book so this exercise has been a little painful for me. In fact it has taken me about three weeks to come up with 7 things.

1 – I love MUSIC - ALL kinds of music. Really, I can hardly function when it is quiet and I absolutely can't be still when music is playing. Classical, Country, Pop, Rock, Alternative, Dance, Religious, Jazz, Folk, R & B and Hip Hop/Rap! I know the lyrics to just about any song you could play and my iPod is so diverse I think that even it is confused. I am really a closet rapper. "I'm a poet - bet you didn't know it - make a rhyme everytime"!
2 – My family breeds English Springer Spaniels. I have the Mom and Dad, Grits and Ford, and I absolutely love them and this breed in general. They are the best dogs!!!
3 – I got Engaged during my college Graduation. I came across the stage after receiving my diploma and my sweet husband and his friends unfurled a banner that asked me to marry him – I said YES!! I had no idea a news camera had been tipped off and had been following me that day. They caught the whole story and it made local and national news shows, newspapers and talk radio.
4 – I took Piano lessons for ten years! I started in 3rd grade and played through my senior year in high school. I got to accompany my middle school chorus several times and even played in church every now and again. My absolute favorite songs to play were My Tribute, White Christmas, How Great Thou Art and The Rhythm of Life.
5 – My middle name is Russell. There is 17 years between my sister and I and I think my parents really wanted a boy. Even though I didn’t fulfill this wish for them they let the name stick. I didn’t exactly appreciate the importance of being named after a parent until I grew older. My Daddy died when I was almost four – and I wouldn’t trade sharing his name for anything in the world.
6 – I am a major Night Owl! I very rarely go to sleep before midnight and really only need about 5 hours of sleep to function. I HATE mornings and come ALIVE at night!
7 – I was in England for my sixteenth birthday. My sweet Mama took me and a friend of mine. She wore this crazy hat the whole time we were there and embarrased us to death with it - precious memories. By the way, I still have the hat!

I'll be tagging the following to complete this meme - I can't wait to find out 7 Things We Don't Need to Know About You!

1 - Tom Ruark
2 - Toni Chant
3 - Betsy McCall
4 - Wanda Lankford
5 - Lauren Skipper

Ok, now I want to hear you play piano! Can you schedule a concert for us?

Thanks for sharing the sweet memories about your parents. Things that seem so trivial when they happen really are so precious as time passes. I try to remember that with my little ones.

What a cool mom you had to take you on such a special trip for your 16th!

I always love hearing the story of how you and CP got engaged. Ok, now here goes, my middle name is George, after my daddy. What a coincidence. :-) Well, you're probably still sleeping if you're lucky.

Thanks for sharing!

Reading about your life was very interesting! I learned so much about you, as these mini-sagas gave me a window into who you are. A closet rapper! Who would have known!Springer Spaniels are great doggies. I had two: Nikki and Tasha, who were inseparable. Chris is a planner,a charmer, and very romantic! He made your engagement memorable, that's for sure. Kindergarten teacher, piano playing goes together. I knew that you were right-brain talented. I did not know that you and your sister are 17 years apart. Cool middle name - Russell. I bet your daddy wouldn't have traded you for all the money in the world. I will remember to not be too hyper and remain calm around you in the mornings. England for a sixteenth birthday with your mom and a friend - How lucky were you! Melanie is so right: Today's events that we take for granted are tomorrow's memories. It is so important that we stay in the moment and appreciate and cherish all of the things in life that seems so insignificant at the time, for those are the precious memories we look back on. Thanks for sharing your memories.

Love,
Dorry

This has got to be one of my favorite blog posts yet. I liked the music playing in the background and want to learn how to do that. Your post is all about building relationships - can't wait to read what the next five are going to write! Thanks for sharing.

That was really cool. Reading all that does make me think of my parents and brothers. Oh, and I am in the process of making a decision about what kind of dog I want to get my daughter (really it's for me!)....those pics are too cute and now I want one of those! Katie

I think the only thing I didn't know was that your middle name was Russel. I knew you took piano for lots of years but have never heard you play... Hmmm... Maybe next summer when you entertain the new teachers you can play the piano and rap!

My oh my I didn't think that there was much that I didn't know about you but you taught me something new. I did not know that your middle name was Russell. I would be proud of it too if I were you. I love the "Do Not Disturb Until Noon" t- shirt. Do you still have it?

I learned 3 new things... piano playing (would love to hear that too one day), Russell as a middle name (glad there was more to it than just naming you a boy's name -what a way for your father's name to live on), the hat in England - this is my favorite share (you still have the hat! Maybe this could be a new family tradition... in about 5 years...) :-)

Susan,
What a great way to share. I don't know if I could reveal myself in such a way, nor do I feel that I am interesting enough for people to want to know about me. But at the same time, I like to learn new things about other people that I didn't already know.

Susan,
What a great way to learn something about someone. I didn't know all, but I knew a few, and loved what I learned about you. We are complete opposites about the night owl business. Mornings are my time, I probably get up a little after you go to bed!
Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed the slide show.

Wow! That was a great read. There was so much that explains who you are that I did not know, and I've known you for a long time!

I never pegged you as a rapper, but now that you mention it, I can see it.

I love your middle name, and I cannot imagine what your life as a very young child was like. It's no wonder, you have such insights into little peeps.

The only down side; now I want to know 700 more things about you!
