Richard Kearney says “Telling
stories is as basic to human beings as eating. More so, in fact, for while food
makes us live, stories are what make our lives worth living.”
As we explore our past, present
and future through stories this year each grade level falls into a
different genre:
Kindergarten becomes the land of
Mother Goose where the lilting sing song of Nursery Rhymes begins their journey
with words and helps them piece Humpty together or run after the dish and spoon.
In First Grade our young readers
will explore the Classic Characters found in those series books that made us
fall in love with being a real reader, fumbling along with Junie B or enjoying the
folly of Frog and Toad and the precious mice from the Henkes’ works.
In Second Grade young minds will
travel to far away lands and experience marvelous things through Fairy Tales of
princesses and beanstalks and magical creatures.
In Third Grade the intriguing
guides those readers as they try to solve the great Mysteries alongside Cam
Jansen and Jigsaw Jones.
In Fourth Grade non-fiction
reigns as they dive into the Biographies of the those who have gone before us
and made the world more interesting from Ben Franklin to Katherine Johnson.
Fifth Grade falls into the world
of Fantasy as a way to explore Percy Jackson powers or wave Harry Potter’s
wand.
And the Resource Team are our
narrators, adding action and art and song to our worlds of words.

Story – Google
defines story as an account of imaginary or real
people and events told for entertainment OR an account of past events in
someone's life or in the evolution of something. It’s time to tell our story, a story of real
people and events that have not only entertained but transformed those involved
through continuous focus on relationships first, taking sometimes uncomfortable
risks and producing unprecedented results over and over again – even as the
characters have changed.
For twenty
years the Chets Creek story has continued to evolve but also prosper. Just as in the case of all the classic
stories ours has included quests, comedy, drama, tragedy, rebirth, love,
dreams, success – magic. Twenty years –
many have wondered how we have been able to sustain such a culture year after
year. I know the answer – exceptional
people doing exceptional work stands the test of time. Ours is a story that
stands the test of time.
So come with me where dreams are
born and time is never planned, just think of happy, happy things and your
heart will fly on wings, into Creeker Forever Land!
Once Upon A Time...
